Meeting people from all over the world has helped me to open my mind, cross borders that I didn’t know existed...
My experience volunteering with kids in Falckenstein has been absolutely amazing. This workcamp has been very enriching because I have learnt so many things from other cultures while I was practicing languages (both English and German) and preparing dynamic activities for the children.
The first week consisted of preparing ourselves for the other two: We got to know each other, got familiar with the place where we were going to live in, the atmosphere… Then it was time to work. The topic of the first week was “Superheroes” so we made costumes of several superheroes and prepared games related to them to play with the kids. They really liked it and enjoyed it a lot! The last week was about the Baltic Sea so we decided to call it “Neptune week”. We did games related to Vikings, pirates, sea creatures… It was really funny!
The free time
We had the weekends off. That is why we organized a trip to Bremen and spent some days there visiting the city. Volunteers also decided to go to Hamburg, Laboe, Schilkesee, to Copenhagen, Berlin or to stay at the village. The workcamp was situated in an idyllic place near the beach, it was so quiet and really worth it.
Meeting people from all over the world has helped me to open my mind, cross borders that I didn’t know existed and has given me the opportunity to share different points of view with the other people within these three weeks.
